اعلنت دار الافتاء المصرية أن الاحد الموافق 31 اغسطس هو المتمم لشهر شعبان وأن يوم الاثنين الموافق الاول من سبتمبر هو أول شهر رمضان المبارك . وأعلن مفتى الجمهورية الدكتور على جمعة فى الاحتفال الذى اقامته دار الافتاء مساء السبت عدم ثبوت رؤية هلال شهر رمضان مساء السبت وأن يوم الاحد هو المتمم لشهر شعبان وان الاثنين هو الاول من شهر رمضان للعام الهجرى 1429. وقال الدكتور على جمعة إن دار الافتاء استطلعت من خلال لجانها الشرعية والعلمية هلال شهر رمضان بعد غروب شمس السبت الموافق 29 من شعبان وتحقق لديها من نتائج هذه الرؤية الشرعية والحسابات العلمية عدم ثبوت هلال شهر رمضان المبارك لعام 1429 هجريا مساء السبت ، وأن يوم الاحد هو أخر أيام شهر شعبان والاثنين هو الأول من رمضان. وأشار فى بيانه إلى إلتزام مصر بمقررات منظمة المؤتمر الاسلامى بشأن الرؤية الشرعية والعلمية لبدء الشهور الهجرية.
